Donna and I went over to Vancouver and met the Millers at IHOP for a birthday breakfast for Drew. Drew brought his friend,  Austin along to celebrate the occasion. We got Drew three games to play on his system (I believe it's called an X-Box or something like that).

Luke was his usual warm self busily eating his pieces of toast and pancake that Donna and Kris set in front of him. I think this was the best way to have a birthday get-together, it was easy and no mess to clean up afterward.

While I am setting at the computer entering this, our puppy Meg, is in her usual spot under my desk snoring away. And I really mean she is snoring ...... very loudly.

Donna and I have two Cavalier King Arthur Spaniels, who are very spoiled. They both sleep with me and being long haired dogs, I have to vacuum the hair off the bed every morning. The photo above is a recent picture I took of them. In the photo below Meg is getting her hair brushed, she and Reggie will come running if they see us have their brush out.

June 9, 2007

A rainy day, but what else would you expect since it is parade day.  The 100th annual "Rose Festival" is in full swing and today was "The Grand Floral Parade". It was also the first day of the Dragon Boat races. My granddaughter is on the crew of one of the boats and I was going to go down to Tom McCall Park and cheer her on, but it was so rainy this morning I bagged that idea.

A lot of controversy in Portland about people marking areas along the parade route with duct tape and reserving the area to come down and watch the parade. One of the city commissioners says he is going to introduce a resolution to make it illegal to do it. I tend to agree with him on this one, I feel it would be ok if a person wanted to physically occupy a space to watch the parade, but to just mark off the space and tape a reserved sign on it is a bit much.

On another subject, we have grandson Luke over every Thursday and Friday and it is such a joy watching him grow. In the photos on the right he is "learning to play the piano". Luke is not walking yet but pulls himself up and reaches up and plays.

June 6, 2007

I keep saying that I am going to keep this site up to date. Well now with the enhancements that Network Solutions has made to their "Image Cafe" I think I will be able to accomplish this.

There has been a lot happening in our family since I last posted anything on here. My oldest granddaughter Danielle was married to a young man named Joe Esqueda. The wedding took place in Cancun Mexico. They are planning a reception in Portland later this summer and I am looking forward to that.

Our youngest grandson, Luke, is growing by leaps and bounds. It doesn't seem possible that he will be one year old in a couple of weeks. Of course his brother Drew will be 7 on Sunday the10th. Donna and I went to one of Drew's baseball games the other day and enjoyed watching him play.

June is birthday month for 4 of our 9 grandkids, in addition to Luke and Drew, Makenzie will be 9 on the 30th and Grant will be 6 on the 26th.

I will try to get up-to-date photos of all the grandkids posted here on the site.

Tomorrow my neighbor Ed and I are going to go pick strawberries. Ed is 79 years old and quite active, he and his live in girlfriend Bobbie go dancing three nights a week.

Well I am going to sign off for now but will do more later this week.

Luke Miller - 5 Months

November 30, 2006

Well it has been five months since I added anything to this site, and a lot has happened during that time. I will attempt to try to get everything entered here.

Probably this most momentous occurrence is the birth of my ninth grandchild, Luke Jamison Miller on June 28, 2006. Luke is the son of my youngest daughter Kristine and her husband Mark Miller. Luke is pictured on the left. In mid September Donna reduced her job to three days a week and so cares for Luke two days a week. So on Thursdays and Fridays I get to spend time spoiling Luke.

As you can see Luke's big brother Drew is quite thrilled with his little brother. Drew is very protective of his little brother.

Drew is in the first grade and constantly amazes me with what he is learning in school. I don't remember being taught even half of what kids are learning at that age, of course that was sixty years ago. It also amazes me that he has homework, it seems to me that I was in high school before I had homework to do.

I have included a picture of two more of my grandsons on the left. The picture was taken at there twelfth birthday celebration. They are Alex and Nate Howard, sons of my second daughter Lisa. Alex has been wanting a camera so we got him a digital camera for his birthday which thrilled him immensely.

Mothers Day 2006

Well we actually celebrated Mothers Day at our house yesterday. Kris, Mark and Drew were over for dinner, Donna fixed a standing rib roast which was very tasty with some huge baked potatoes and some mushrooms sauteed in butter. For dessert we had a choice of strawberries dipped in white or dark chcolate and key lime pie all supplied by Kris. The puppies were happy because they each had a bone from the roaast to gnaw on.

I have included a few pictures from the day below.

Wed May 9

Well I changed the header on the site today. For those of you who are observant you will notice the spruces are gone from the yard. These shrubs had been in for 40 years and had outgrown there beauty, so I had Joe Ito, the yard man who comes once a week take them out. I also had Joe take out a portion of a vine maple in the backyard that was deseased.

From time to time I will add views showing the changes to the front yard as we add or remove plantings. The view is from my neighbors deck, it was such a nice day, Ed my neighbor, and I sat out on the deck enjoying the views and watching the planes land at PDX.

Sunday May 7

Just a thought I had this morning at breakfast. If a quarter is worth 25 cents how come a quarter of the hour or a quarter past the hour is 15 of or 15 past?

Saturday May 6, 2006

Well I have decided to try to post some of my thoughts on this site. Not necessarily daily but when the mood strikes me. For anyone who is looking for my April trip journal or pictures or any other pages they are listed across the bottom of the site.

As I stated in my trip jounal, I learned a lot about me on the trip. I learned that family is important to me and that they will always be there. I learned a little bit about slowing down and "smelling the roses". But I will admit that I have to really work on that aspect of my life.

I am really glad to be home, as much as I enjoyed seeing relatives and friends, there is no place like home.

As I stated I will enter thoughts and pictures here as the mood strikes me.
